Don’t worry, we will not go with the “put a bacon between two slices of bread and cut it diagonally” type of recipe over here. This is a luxury only Jamie can afford. (No offense, we love Jamie Oliver). This is a bacon sandwich lunch recipe we posted for you online, or a dinner recipe, if you will, with bacon bits, because these are easy homemade bacon sandwich ideas.
Now, here is what you will need to have and to do:
Ingredients:
- 8 slices of thick-cut bacon
- 4 slices of crusty bread (such as sourdough or ciabatta)
- 2 tablespoons spicy mayo or chipotle aioli
- 4 slices of your favorite cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
- 1 ripe avocado, sliced
- 4 leaves of lettuce
- Optional toppings: caramelized onions, sliced tomatoes, pickles, jalapeños
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
- Toast the bread slices until golden brown and crispy. If desired, spread a thin layer of spicy mayo or chipotle aioli on one side of each bread slice.
- Layer the sandwich as follows: Place a slice of cheese on each bread slice to melt slightly from the warmth of the toasted bread. Add a couple of bacon slices on one side of the bread. Top with avocado slices, lettuce leaves, and any additional toppings of your choice.
- Sprinkle a pinch of salt and black pepper over the toppings for added flavor.
- Press the sandwich together gently and cut it in half diagonally or serve it whole.
- Enjoy your next-level bacon sandwich immediately while the bread is still warm and the cheese is slightly melted.
