Instructions:
- Cook the ground beef:
- Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add the ground beef.
- Cook the beef, breaking it up with a spoon or spatula, until it is browned and cooked through.
- Add onions and garlic:
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for a few minutes until it becomes translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Season the beef:
- Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the ground beef mixture and stir well to combine.
- Add salt to taste, if needed. Remember, the taco seasoning may already contain salt, so adjust accordingly.
- Simmer and meld flavors:
- Pour a small amount of water into the skillet (about 1/4 cup) and stir the mixture.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the beef simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Warm the taco shells:
- If using soft tortillas, heat them in a dry skillet or wrap them in aluminum foil and warm them in the oven for a few minutes until pliable.
- If using hard taco shells, warm them in the oven according to the package instructions.
- Assemble the tacos:
- Spoon the cooked ground beef mixture into the taco shells, dividing it evenly among them.
- Add your desired toppings, such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, sour cream, salsa, or any other toppings you prefer.
- Optional garnish:
- Squeeze a bit of fresh lime juice over the tacos for added brightness and garnish with fresh cilantro, if desired.
- Serve and enjoy:
- Serve the ground beef tacos immediately while they are still warm.
- Customize each taco with additional toppings or condiments according to your taste.
- Enjoy your delicious homemade ground beef tacos!
