White Wine dinner recipe – Lemon Garlic Shrimp Scampi.

This classic seafood recipe features succulent shrimp sautéed in a flavorful lemon and garlic butter sauce. Pair it with a crisp and refreshing white wine for a perfect match. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of spice)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Cooked pasta, rice, or crusty bread for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Shrimp:
    • Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season them with salt and black pepper.
  2. Sauté the Shrimp:
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat until the butter melts.
    • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and are just cooked through. Avoid overcooking the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy. Once cooked, transfer the shrimp to a plate and set them aside.
  3. Create the Lemon Garlic Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, pour in the white wine and bring it to a simmer. Scrape the browned bits from the bottom of the pan to incorporate the flavorful fond into the sauce.
    • Stir in the lemon zest, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes (if using).
    • Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the sauce and stir until it melts and thickens the sauce slightly.
  4. Combine the Shrimp and Sauce:
    • Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss them in the lemon garlic sauce until they are evenly coated.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the shrimp scampi for a burst of color and flavor.
    • Serve the Lemon Garlic Shrimp Scampi over cooked pasta, rice, or with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.

Now, pour yourself a glass of chilled white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay, to enjoy alongside this delightful seafood dish.
